Staff Accountant

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
Responsible for performing various professional accounting work in the recording, tracking, and data entry of cost inventory, accounts receivable and accounts payable analysis. Also responsible for till balancing and reviewing the control of petty cash.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Staff Accountants will be involved in some aspect of the following common areas:
Analyzes accounts payable for company and control of petty cash.
Researches, records, and tracks cost inventory for all branch locations.
Resolves conflicts regarding accounts receivable and accounts payable between company and outside vendors and customers.
Monitors item cost database: reviews components of cost allocations, tracks inventory, and details cost information and prepares cost analysis reports.
Prepares commission statements to sales representatives on monthly basis; handles inquiries from sales representatives & updates sales information.
Monitors resale certificate compliance as well as inputting and updating resale certificate information and providing instructions to branches.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Monitors payments received database: reconciles cash deposits, process and review daily payment postings, handles billing and payment inquiries from customers, applies appropriate payment for record-keeping purposes and maintains receipt records.
Monitors payments due database: process all check requests, invoices and related documents, general ledger posting; accurately matches purchase orders, coding, reconciling, data entry and filing for all payment process for all branches, communicates with vendors for inquiries and maintains payment records.
Performs bank reconciliation for branches.
Prepares refund check requests from customers.
Reviews mail and files invoice copies from branches.
Procures local purchases for branches; performs inventory costing.
Prints Coaster invoices for Deliverall, bills customers, prints order forms, updates access file.
Pays dealers and vendors; records sales & receipts; prepares deposits.
Process accounts payable.
Reconciles and closes accounts payable month end.
Accounts payable overseas: records and runs checks; records custom duty invoices & payments; updates A/P spreadsheet report.
Perform similar and incidental duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years experience in accounting functions
Knowledge: Requires thorough knowledge of arithmetic skills, PC data processing, computer knowledge, finance, accounting, payroll procedures, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, ability to get along well with others, accept constructive criticism and be a team player.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral, written, and presentation communications.
Math Skills: Overall skills and knowledge of general mathematical and accounting principles and practices.
Other Skills: Time management skills to effectively schedule and meet company demands.
Other Abilities: Ability to handle multiple priorities.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Vice President of Finance.

MAJOR BUSINESS/PROFESSIONAL CONTACTS
Frequent contact with management, all departments, branches, employees, vendors and customers.

WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Normal working environment involving minimum discomforts or hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
