(Las Vegas) World Market Center Las Vegas hosted the home furnishings industry’s first market of the new decade, with people from around the world coming out in record numbers at the winter Las Vegas Market, February 1-5, 2010. The show attracted more "retail buying units" than any of the previous three markets, and attracted some 3,500 first-time attendees. In his opening speech Robert Maricich, president and CEO of World Market Center Las Vegas claimed "The industry has weathered the eye of the storm, and it's gratifying to see people here motivated and geared up for success after the last two-and-a-half years in a most challenging environment." Coaster continued to emerge from its own slump. This market wasn’t Coaster’s largest in terms of order writing, but it was the best market for order fulfillment. With all Coaster warehouses being full of merchandise, the company was able to ship out orders the day after they were written. This was the tenth Las Vegas Market to be hosted at World Market Center Las Vegas and this Market took a new approach. The line-up of programs at the market was different, and for technology-seekers, an interactive Smartphone application was introduced to the Las Vegas Market. Market-goers had the ability to easily access exhibitor and event information, strengthen social communities and share information with others – all from their touch of their iPhone. The market offered 157 events throughout the week, including industry trends highlights, educational topics, panel discussions and a star-studded lineup of speakers. Attendees rubbed elbows at the star-studded Market, which featured design celebrities including Kathy Ireland, Jane Seymour, and Nancy O’Dell. The celebration kicked off on opening night with guests having access to top Las Vegas chefs such as Kerry Simon, Alessandro Stratta, Paul Bartolotta, Hubert Keller, Robert Solano and others.
